The International Society of the Critical Study of Divination (ISCSD) is pleased to announce that the recording of our recent book talk, held on November 20, 2024, is now available on our YouTube channel.
This engaging event featured a presentation of The Other Yijing: The Book of Changes in Chinese History, Politics, and Everyday Life (Brill, 2021), a volume published as part of our series “Prognostication in History.”
The book’s editor, Professor Tze-ki Hon 韓子奇 (Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College), provided an overview of the work, highlighting its unique exploration of the Yijing beyond its classical interpretations.
Joining Prof. Hon were two contributors to the volume: Professor Chang Chia-Feng 張嘉鳳 (National Taiwan University) and Professor Zhao Lu 趙璐 (NYU Shanghai), who shared insights from their respective chapters. The discussion was further enriched by the participation of Professor John T.P. Lai 黎子鵬 (Chinese University of Hong Kong), who served as the discussant.
The book talk offered a fascinating exploration of how the Yijing has influenced diverse aspects of Chinese history, politics, and daily life, generating lively discussions among participants.
