Deadline Extension: The ISCSD’s Participation in the 27th International Congress of History of Science and Technology

Dear ISCSD members,

The ISCSD is informed that the deadline for submission of symposium proposals has been extended to May 1st (not April 1st) for the 27th International Congress of History of Science and Technology that will be held 29 June-5 July 2025 in Dunedin, New Zealand. The theme is “Peoples, Places, Exchanges, and Circulation.” They are accepting individual paper proposals until Dec 1, 2024. See information here: https://www.ichst2025.org/call-for-stand-alone-papers

Marta Hanson, Vice Prsident of our Society, is organizing an ISCSD-based symposium on “The Making of Diviners in their Cultural Manifolds: The Multi-faceted Milieus of Mantic Technicians and their Technologies of the Mind.” This panel started with a focus on China but for this meeting is not limited in time or region as we can have several panels within one symposium proposal. The main focus is on actual diviners and their practices in the context within which they worked or with respect to the audience for whom they wrote their extant works.  There is no limit to how many ISCSD members can participate.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Marta directly ASAP and send her a 250-page abstract and a 1-page cv.  mhanson4@jhmi.edu

It would be good to have good representation of ISCSD members in Dunedin, New Zealand.

With this goal in mind, any other ISCSD member who is interested in organizing a comparable symposium, may send a message to Marta to be posted as well to our society members.

On behalf of the ISCSD.
